Web Site Gallery Update - More Photos for 2009 (January 24, 2010, 06:09:50 PM)
Hi, The Gallery has recently been updated with a number of photographs taken on the Reserve throughout 2009. All those from Steve Carter (over 250 photos) and over 800 taken by Joe Crump have been posted, categorised and tagged - many thanks to both. About 300 more from Steve, taken in Nov and Dec 2009 will appear soon.
The selection categories ('Fungi - All', for example) have nearly all been reviewed, checked and updated where applicable. There are a number of known corrections to make but please bear with me whilst these take place.
There are also a number of fungi, dragonflies, trees, moths, flowers, plants etc that I need to correctly identify. You can help me with these please - type IDENT into the 'search' field and press enter. As you hover the mouse over each photograph, an id number is shown at the end of a string of characters in the bottom left of the frame. If you can help identify the species in the photograph then please note the id and the species name and post a reply here on the forum. Thanks. Corrections to any mistaken identifications are also welcome.
In addition to selecting from the long drop-down list, users can also search the Gallery based on a word, part word, or phrase. Please note that selecting categories such as 'Birds - All' may result in a long wait due to the large numbers of photos in such categories - best to opt for the more specific sub-sets (e.g. 'Birds - Great Tit'). The drop down list now shows the number of photos in each category. Enjoy!

Hi I am just posting a few IDs for the ident gallery . Image 7 (id=2301) is a Drone fly ( eristalis tenax ). 11 (id=2510) is a Noon fly (mesembrina meridiana . 19 (id=2518) is Clustered Bonnet .24 (id=2718) is an Ichneumon fly (amblyteles armatorius ) .27 (id=3053) is a Snout moth .38 (id=3900) is a Silver-ground Carpet moth.80 (id=4126) is a Harlequin ladybird and pupa , and I think 102 (id=4364) is a Vapourer moth caterpillar. Hi it's me again ,just a few more IDs - image13 (id=2512) is Golden Scalycap ,image 37 (id=3867) is a Snipe Fly, image 62 (id=4004) is a Cardinal Beetle ( pyrochroa serraticornis ) ,image 75 (id=4121) is a Longhorn Beetle (leptura maculata ) ,images 29 (id=3840) and 56 (id=3978) are both sawfly caterpillars but I'm not sure exactly which ones. Many thanks again - all the above and also from your previous identifications have now been tagged (and can be found using search keywords such as beetle, saw, snout, etc) - their drop down selection categories will available soon.
